Transcendence Singer Job Description

 

REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

  • There are three rehearsals that take place on three 3 consecutive days (Wednesday-Friday) for each seasonal concert. Performances are on Friday and Saturday evening making for a four-day residency.

COMPENSATION:

  • Compensation/Pay Scale: $29/hour for rehearsals. $120 per performance.  (Rehearsals are 3 hours in length.)

ACCOMMODATIONS:

  • Accommodations will be provided for singers travelling more than 100 miles from their home to the rehearsal location for the 4-day residency.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Attendance: To attend and perform with TRANSCENDENCE for all rehearsals, concerts, and special events contracted

  • Music Preparation: Singers must have all music prepared by the first rehearsal. Music will be sent electronically to all singers at least one month prior to the first rehearsal so that all music is learned prior to rehearsals.

  • Solos: sing solos or solo passages in the choral repertoire as requested by the director as needs dictates

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS INCLUDE:

  • Education and/or Professional Experience: Working towards or have completed at least a bachelor’s degree in music (preferably vocal emphasis) or evidence of substantial professional vocal and choral performance experience.

  • Sightreading Skill: A skilled musician able to read music well

  • Vocal Production: A strong vocal production with good pitch sense and the ability to be both a strong ensemble singer and soloist as needed

  • Vocal Flexibility: able to sing in a variety of musical styles. Additionally, all singers should be able to sing with and without vibrato depending on the style and disposition of the repertoire.

  • A Positive Attitude: Singers should possess good interpersonal skills and rehearsal etiquette and willing to help foster a positive, energetic and musical working

environment at all times.

  • Punctuality: All singers should be on time and report at least 5-10 minutes before

rehearsals and all scheduled concert call times.
